On Saturday, June 6th, 2020, Deputies responded to an off-highway vehicle wreck that occurred off Lone Pine Dam Road at approximately Mile Post 5 (near Burton Road) in Show Low, Arizona. Two of the four occupants were injured in the rollover and were transported by ground ambulance to Summit Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
On Saturday, June 6th, 2020 at approximately 2:22 PM: Deputies from the NCSO were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover crash involving a Polaris RZR off Lone Pine Dam Road at approximately Mile Post 5 (near Burton Road), near Show Low, Arizona. Two male subjects were in the front seats and were able to get out of the Polaris however; two females in the back seats were unable to get out of the vehicle and were extricated by firefighters from the Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District. Based upon the investigation, the driver attempted to jump a hill traveling approximately 28 feet in the air prior to landing and losing control of the vehicle resulting in the rollover crash. The off-highway vehicle operated by the driver had been recently purchased.
Sheriff Clouse said that he was grateful that the injuries were not worse and hopes for a speedy recovery of the passengers. Sheriff Clouse reminds everyone who enjoy our wilderness on off highway vehicles to use caution when driving on our trails, and to remain on trails such as not to harm our forest. Sheriff Clouse asks those who use off highway vehicles to seek training regarding the safe operation of such vehicles to avoid incidences like this one. Sheriff Clouse noted that during the summer, many citizens are out on motorcycles and off highway vehicles and that Deputies also patrol the forest looking for persons operating in a reckless manner and will take enforcement action if needed.
