I-40 TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG DEALERS ARRESTED

On June 10, 2020, at approximately 11:09, Deputies conducted a traffic stop on I-40 near mile post 286, near Holbrook, for unsafe vehicle operation. During the traffic stop, Deputies could smell the odor of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A search was conducted and revealed 11 grams of Cocaine, 3 grams of THC wax, 2 ounces of Marijuana, a large amount of US Currency and a pistol. Joseph Alexander Franklin (30) and Erica Liliana Lopez (19), both of Santa Fe, New Mexico were arrested and booked into the Navajo County Jail on the following charges: Possession of Narcotic Drugs for sale, Transportation of Narcotic Drugs for sale, Possession of Marijuana, and misconduct involving weapons. They are each being held on a $100,000.00 secured bond. This was great work done by the Navajo County Sheriff’s Deputies, apprehending drug dealers and removing these drugs from our community.
