The Bush fire south of Payson on the Tonto National Forest has now burned nearly 187,000 acres with 61% containment. The Brush fire is the fifth largest wildfire in Arizona history.
State Routes 87 and 188 remain closed. The Brush fire was caused by a car fire on June 13th.
The Bringham fire south of Alpine has burned almost 20,000 acres and is now 20% contained. Highway 191 remains closed in both directions.
The Bringham fire was caused by a lightning strike on June 6th.
Other active fires burning around Arizona include 69,000 acre Mangum fire on the Kiabab Plateau which is 28% contained, the nearly 59,000 acre Bighorn fire in the Catalina Mountains north of Tucson, now 33% contained, and the 4,500 acre Central fire near New River.
